What is Somatic and Embodiment Coaching?

an approach to transformation that will let your actions align with what you care about, even under pressure. i consider my work to be autonomic flexibility training, where i coach people to safely increase the flexibility of their nervous system, so they can move from knowing a pattern to changing it. Whether that pattern is behavioral, emotional, or a habit you desire but just won't stick, the transformation you want is possible.

Who am i?

my name is kathleen marie. i am a commitment to collective liberation, ethical power, and the unfolding of care-centered communities. i have formal degrees in Nutritional Sciences and am trained as a Mind-Body coach. Health and well-being have always been a priority in my life, and i have been practicing different forms of somatics for over 20 years. i believe that somatic tools are one possibility for helping people find agency that is rooted in collective liberation and interdependence. As a somatic coach, witnessing people develop agency and empowerment in their daily lives is one the greatest honors of my life.

    • are queer and de-conditioning from internalized homophobia

    • are chronically ill

    • are chronically ill and want to improve their quality of life without false promises of “healing”

  • i aim for an emergent unfolding of healing that is guided by need, desire, and longing rather than directed by an extractive economy model, meaning, i do not want money to be a factor in scheduling sessions with me. i am also not naive to the role money plays in meeting my own survival needs, and i hope to find the balance by working with people across the spectrum of access to money. collective liberation and new paradigms are my north star in this lifetime, and as an ex-fundraiser who does not shy away from money conversations, i think people paying in accordance with their access to money and intersectionality, rather than a market-value rate determined by an extractive economy model, is an important step toward the world we all deserve.

in order to make a livable wage, honor my body’s pace, and redistribute 50% of my net income by year 5 of my business to Black and Indigenous organizations and people, my best guess right now is that ill need to average $250/session.

my pricing model is not linear or stagnant because i don’t believe our relationship to money should be linear or stagnant. you will never be locked into a fee. maybe one week you pay me $20 and the next week you pay me $250. i trust this emergent process, and i trust your decision.

before deciding where you are on the money and class scale:

if you are white and have a Masters degree or a specialized skill and are able to work more, but you choose not to, please reconsider where you are on this scale.

if you are white and come from a family with wealth, please consider whether you can organize to pay me at that class level. for example, if you want to work with me for one year, every other week, can you ask your family to gift you money for that amount?

  • My sliding scale is $0 - $infinity. and i trust your decision.

    Owning Class $400 - $700

    Managerial/Upper Class $250 - $400

    Middle Class $75 - $250

    Working Class $35 - $75

    Limited Resources $0-$35

  • Owning Class Life experience often marked by: Owning luxurious home or homes, travel (including international); Enough income from assets (stocks, bonds, etc.) that full-time work is optional; Education at elite/selective private schools and elite colleges without student loans; Receiving and/or passing down large inheritances; Social connections, status, and financial knowledge to help the next generation remain wealthy

Managerial/Upper Class Life experience often marked by: Owning one or multiple homes, travel (including international); Dependent on salaries, not investments, to pay bills — mid-level to high-level managerial or professional jobs; Education at elite/selective colleges or at public universities often without student loans; Some investment in stock market, might have enough savings to retire early

Middle Class Life experience often marked by: Homeownership or other generally stable housing; Depends on wages/salaries to pay the bills. Often jobs with some benefits, some control over the hours and methods of work and/or control over other’s work; Social status and social connections to help the next generation; College generally expected, may or may not complete Bachelor’s degree; Debt is most often in mortgages, education, medical bills

Working Class Life experience often marked by: Housing sometimes unstable. Rental housing, or if owning a home, the majority of assets and potential for wealth are tied to it; Occupation often involves physical labor, service or care work for upper and middle-class people. Little control over pay, hours, or access to benefits; Access to higher education spotty, a large amount of student debt common for people who attend 4-year universities

Limited Resources Life experience often marked by: Substandard, unstable or inconsistent housing; Underemployed/underpaid; sometimes long-term use of public benefits; Little access to higher education; Basic living expenses might be impossible/difficult to obtain
